Margot James, MP for Stourbridge, has been elected to the Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) select Committee. The Committee will scrutinise the conduct of government policy on business, universities, Further Education colleges, apprenticeships, science and the digital economy. The committee will also examine the role of public bodies such as Ofcom and the Office of Fair Trading. read more »

Speaking in the Budget Debate Margot James congratulates the Chancellor for introducing a Budget that tackles the legacy of the previous Government whilst protecting the most vulnerable and promoting business growth. She particularly welcomes the restoration of the link between pensions and earnings and the increase in personal allowance which will see over 800,000 of the lowest paid workers taken out of paying income tax altogether. read more »

Margot James highlights difficulties faced by small businesses in Stourbridge in accessing support from Regional Development Agencies. She welcomes moves to free up more money for apprenticeships and the creation of local enterprise partnerships to enable small firms and students to access that funding directly. She also makes a plea for capital funding for Stourbridge college’s plans for expansion. read more »
