Nick Clegg, the Deputy Prime Minister, has backed a call by Margot James, MP for Stourbridge, for the courts to impose the severest-possible penalties against the Oxford gang that exploited young and vulnerable girls.

Following the Home Secretary’s statement to the House of Commons on the case of Abu Qatada, Margot James welcomes moves to reduce the layers of appeal available to foreign criminals fighting deportation.

Margot James questions the Government about what can be done to increase the number of girls choosing a career in engineering.

Evidence was heard from Paula Vennells, Chief Executive, Post Office Ltd, and George Thomson, General Secretary, National Federation of Sub Postmasters.

The Business, Innovation and Skills Select Committee met on 26th April to take further evidence on apprenticeships.

Margot James has welcomed the Prime Minister’s comments on Dudley’s approach to caring for people with dementia.

Margot James has congratulated Apni Zaroorat Community Network, a community organization in Stourbridge, on receiving £10,000 in funding from the Big Lottery Fund.

Margot James has congratulated Leaps and Bounds Trust Ltd, a Stourbridge community organisation, on receiving £9,800 in funding from the Big Lottery Fund.

Margot James MP congratulated the President of Stourbridge Conservative Association, Margaret Fraser on her MBE for political service, Civil Servant Derek Alldritt on his MBE for public service and fireman Rudy Parkes on his MBE for national and international fundraising and voluntary work.

Margot said "In the five years I have been privileged to know Margaret Fraser she has always demonstrated such loyalty and dedication in her work which has spanned decades of service. I know she will feel that this award also recognises the tireless work carried out by her late husband John Fraser for the Rotary Club and the Conservative Party. Margaret and John were a wonderful team and it is so much to her credit that Margaret has carried on their good work despite health problems and the loss of John. she is appreciated and admired by all who know her and the MBE is a fitting tribute."

Margot continued "I was very impressed to read about the huge amount of fundraising and rescue work done both internationally and at home by Mr Parkes, and the outstanding work, always going the extra mile, carried out by Mr Alldritt which is a reminder of the valuable and often unsung work undertaken by our civil service at all levels. I extend my warmest congratulations to both men ".
