Margot James launches charity wine tastings

27th June 2008

Margot James, Conservative Candidate for Stourbridge, is taking a break from campaigning by conducting a series of wine tastings for local groups.

Thirty six clients and board members of Age Concern Stourbridge enjoyed the first tasting. Margot brought wines from all over the world and gave a short talk on each wine whilst people enjoyed drinking them.

Next in line was the Mary Stevens Hospice. Last week Margot took her selection of wines to the day patients who gather at the Hospice on a Friday.

Margot said "Wine in moderation is good for you unless you are on medication that is upset by it, sometimes medical treatment can interfere with your sense of taste and smell , but most of the patients there were able to taste and enjoy the wines, in fact I was pleasantly surprised at just how much some of the men especially loved their wine, it was very rewarding to be able to give Hospice patients something a little bit different which get everyone talking and enjoying themselves".

Prior to starting her business Margot worked in the wine trade and studied and passed the industry exams. So far the tastings have been for clients and staff of the charities but plans are in progress to extend the idea for fundraising purposes.
