Margot supports Stourbridge bid for Fair Trade status
3rd June 2008
Margot James has written to the Chairman of Caffè Nero calling for the promotion of fair trade sourced coffee and sugar in their Stourbridge branch.
In her letter to group chairman Gerry Ford, Margot welcomed the opening of the store in the High Street last year as having "contributed to our quality of life, giving us a nice looking outlet and good coffee."
She added:
"I notice on your website there are positive references to fair trade, however they are not promoted in our store. Please could you consider making available fair trade coffee, or sugar at least, to the people of Stourbridge via our local Caffè Nero branch?"
Speaking about the campaign, Margot said:
I am most impressed by the work of the Stourbridge Fairtrade Town Group and am keen to do all I can to help get Stourbridge designated as a 'Fair Trade Town'. To achieve this we need to increase the number of cafes and retailers offering fair trade goods."
