Margot James supports residents against boy racers
1st June 2009
Margot has questioned the police and met campaigners for better security at the Bell Street car park. Margot has added her name and a statement to the petition going before the Stourbridge Area Committee on June 15th. Margot’s statement is as follows:
“The length of time residents in the vicinity of Bell Street car park have had to put up with noise at night, nuisance and worse is completely unacceptable. Why is it, as Helen Ashby found during her research, that faced with similar issues in town centre car parks, Ross on Wye and Bromsgrove have dealt with the problem either by shutting the car park overnight (Bromsgrove) or dealing effectively with the criminals (Ross on Wye)? I support the residents petition to get the car park closed from the first level upwards overnight. But I regret that this has become necessary; car parks are subject to the Road Traffic Act and given the frequency of complaints it is disappointing that the ringleaders have not been arrested and charged with driving offences”.
